Meet the founder behind Platte Valley Partners.
Meet the Founder:
Cole Hancock
Platte Valley Partners was founded by Cole Hancock to acquire and operate one exceptional business in the Mountain West.
Born and raised in Colorado, Cole remains deeply connected to the region. After several years in private and growth equity, he founded Platte Valley Partners to return home and build something enduring in the community where he grew up.
Cole began his career at Warburg Pincus, a leading global private equity firm, where he worked across the United States and Europe evaluating and supporting investments in technology, infrastructure, and services businesses. He partnered closely with founders and executive teams on strategy, growth initiatives, and operational performance, including a full-time secondment with Community Fibre, a telecommunications provider serving more than 400,000 customers, working alongside senior leadership on financial and operational initiatives.
He later worked with One Peak, a growth equity firm focused on scaling software businesses across Europe, before deciding to transition from institutional investing to hands-on ownership.
Cole graduated summa cum laude from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, earning a B.S. in Economics with concentrations in Finance and Management. He also received a B.A. in International Studies through Penn’s Huntsman Program.
Outside of work, Cole enjoys skiing, tennis, traveling, and exploring Colorado’s backcountry (all of the photos on the site are his, from his favorite spots in the state!).
